    The Tool Designer is responsible for the design and detailing of all forms of manufacturing tooling used for production and new product prototypes. He/she organizes and maintains current revisions of CAD tool design files. The Tool Designer participates in the project planning, estimating and manufacturing processes.


    • Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for the work area as identified by Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and company policy.  Promptly report all safety incidents and safety issues to the supervisor.
    • Create CAD generated tool designs with appropriate detailing for all tooling i.e. strike dies, progressive tools, metal molds, TM stamps and any other form of manufacturing tooling
    • Maintains accuracy of legacy and new product designs through  the company’s chosen document management system
    • Communicates progress and delivery commitments to all internal customers and management team
    • Escalates issues  and impact to design timelines quickly
    • Performs troubleshooting across all departments  in manufacturing
    • Collaborates with management to identify manufacturing issues and assists with cross training efforts, when necessary.
    • Participates in lean manufacturing initiatives


    Required qualifications:

    • 1-3 years of  tool design experience
    • CAD software skills, including Solidworks, MasterCAM, RHINO, and AUTOCAD
    • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and present technical data, documents, information, and design specifications
    • Communication skills in English, including the ability to read, write and comprehend
    • Basic skills in MS Office Suite
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Demonstrates exceptional teamwork
    • Ability to work with independently in a high volume, fast paced work atmosphere


    Preferred qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
