Overview

The Market Merchandise Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Market Vice President as well as market and store leadership to execute the product strategies for the region.

 

The manager is responsible for identifying growth and distortion opportunities within their respective market and elevating the information to the Senior Director for action. The manager will be responsible for market assortment planning, analyzing and optimizing sell thru, understanding and gathering both consumer and competitive insights in addition to analyzing trends as a means to identify growth opportunities. The manager will collaborate with other departments to optimize performance and perform market/trend analysis and product feedback.

Responsibilities

Assortment Planning

  • Develop and execute localized assortment strategy across all product categories to deliver sales growth.
  • Assess key drivers for each business unit and identify growth opportunities in partnership with retail leadership.
  • Stay current on all new product launches and provide timely and documented feedback on any deviations or customizations.
  • Collaborate with Senior Director to establish linear square footage targets; implement assortments for all new stores, renovations or relocations taking into consideration product mix, consumer demographics and competition; partner with replenishment planning on opening inventory levels.

 

Analyze and optimize sell thru

 

  • Review sales and productivity of merchandise to constantly optimize sales and identify opportunities
  • Create and analyze planograms and floorplans to determine the most effective placement of key product categories from a productivity and branding perspective.

 

Collaborate with other departments to optimize performance

 

  • Act as a point of contact for store sales and operations teams ensuring that everyone within the market understands the collection strategy, has the necessary product knowledge and is able to communicate the product features to the consumer.
  • Reinforce and communicate merchandising strategy.
  • Execute in-store launch strategy to support the strategic objectives for each product category.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Director to share market feedback, work on product distortions and communicate opportunities.
  • Serve as product training liaison for the market teams about new and existing collections (inspiration, materials used, price positioning, etc.)
  • Partner with CVM on creating strong visual presentations to support product initiatives.
  • Support CVM with store re-merchandising projects and frequently visit store locations to ensure product directives are fully implemented and best sellers are on display.
  • Partner with store leadership and CVM to identify distortion opportunities to improve placement and space allocation and productivity for key growth collections and categories with the consumer in mind.
  • Support Marketing, Public Relations, and strategic events through collaboration of event brief, product assortment development and product coordination.
  • Support new store development and the improvement of the existing store network (renovations/relocations) through the development of linear square footage targets that will meet the current and future sales expectations.
  • Provide on-site support for new store and renovations, working with Replenishment Planning and local teams to ensure optimal inventory levels and product support at the time of the opening.

Market and trend analysis, product feedback

 

  • Conduct store visits and assess both the similarities and differences amongst the store base to better inform the merchandising plan.
  • Serve as liaison between the field and Senior Director for product feedback and development.
  • Study the competition in terms of product offering, pricing, distribution and in-store presentation as a means to better position Tiffany & Co. in the marketplace.
  • Monitor trends, identify opportunities and communicate needs and issues back to central merchandising teams.  
  • Execute the strategies based on analysis of market trends, customer profile and competitive landscape.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of previous merchandising experience, interest and ability to identify trends, understand consumer behavior and identify opportunities
  • Strong analytical mind
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, ownership and accountability
  • Highly collaborative and demonstrated ability to work in a team-based, results-oriented environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to travel 75% of the time
