The Director, Category Marketing for Fashion will lead a team of marketing professionals as they leverage integrative strategic thinking, translate consumer insights and business analytics to create long term strategic plans, define annual marketing plans and much more.
The Director, Category Marketing will demonstrate robust consumer & shopper understanding. S/he will apply insights uncovered by the Consumer Insights team and leverage them to inform strategy development around the consumer target (WHO) and the proposition development (WHAT). This individual will leverage integrative strategic thinking. Partner with Merchandising Director for Fashion jewelry to triangulate 1) long-range strategic category planning with 2) broader Corporate/ Brand strategic goals and 3) commercial strategy development that meets or exceed sales and profitability goals. The Director will lead a bottom up size of the prize analysis for each new initiative based on sound data based rationale and align VP of Fashion to recommendations and subsequently Category leadership.
This individual will synthesize regional and market level needs into strategy development to develop robust partnerships with regional business and marketing leadership to build market and region level insights that can inform both strategic category product plans as well as annual marketing calendars and initiative communication briefs. S/he will partner with other category leaders to create an initiative calendar that is balanced and meets business needs. The Director will work with merchandising key contacts in addition to Finance to deliver exceptional Business Analytics that ensure sufficiency of sales and profitability plans and responsible P&L management. S/he will analyze the category competitive landscape to inform i) category strategic and executional plans that enable market share growth and ii) collection pricing strategy. This individual will deliver data based strategic solutions to business issues and challenges that are presented on a day to day basis through exceptional business analytics. Review spending priorities at a global and regional level and balance sufficiency with fiscal efficiency. Effectively partner with Regional teams and Finance to ensure category plans are sufficient to deliver the sales and profitability targets.
S/he will translate Consumer Insights and Business analytics to create a long term strategic plan for key fashion icons. Partner with VP to align Category VP and subsequently SVP to the Long Range Plans and enroll key regional stakeholders. Create and align with Merchandising partner Product Development briefs that that support the Long Range Plan goals. S/he will lead the creation of clearly articulated creative briefs for Brand and Creative teams, ensure creative briefs meet the needs of the business (aligned through Category Management, Brand Management, Regional management) before delivering the brief to creative. The Director will define the annual marketing plan for the fashion icons that drives awareness and market share / purchase goals for each region and drive internal business partners to deliver tools for effective plan execution. S/he will also develop an effective way of measuring if we are spending marketing dollars effectively to deliver target sales and profitability. Additionally, build organizational capability and capacity and be able to identify non value added work or operational inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
7-10+ years of professional experience in a Marketing or related field
A completed undergraduate and graduate degree in Business, Marketing or related field
Ability to work quickly in a dynamic environment
Diplomatic communication and leadership style
Proven ability to lead a team
Strong reporting, strategic and analytical skills
